EN – BaliDiary6. Surprisingly, food was less expensive than on Bali itself. In one of the local restaurants called warungs we ate for unter 50,000 IDR in total which is around 3,5€. One of our favorite warungs on the east beach side was Warung Sasak. They had a great variety of local dishes for reasonable prices. Sometimes you may wait a little bit longer for your food but you can order a banana juice in the meantime. Overall we tried the following specialities:
// NASI CAMPUR – rice with various kinds of vegetables and a fried egg on top
// URAP-URAP CHICKEN – various vegetables with a delicious coconut sauce
// CHICKEN SATE – roasted chicken on a spit with peanut sauce
// PELECING KANGKUNG – one of the spiciest dishes I had so far consisting of water spinach with a hot chili sauce and rice
// CHICKEN PARAPEK – super delicious dish with beans, carrots and chicken and a light spicy sweet sauce.
We also had some Western food and tried the Italian restaurant BIBA which was such a delusion. The noodles were cooked way to long and all in all, it was nothing special. Same for the burger. Therefore, I highly recommend trying out more Indonesian food.
More of Gili Air is coming up!

DE – BaliDiary6.
// NASI CAMPUR – Reis mit einem frittiertem Ei und verschiedene Beilagen
// URAP-URAP CHICKEN – buntes Gemüse mit einer leckeren Kokusnuss-Soße
// CHICKEN SATE – Hühnerspießchen mit Erdnuss-Soße
// PELECING KANGKUNG – das schärfste Gericht, das ich bisher hatte. Gekochter Wasserspinat mit einer höllischen Chili-Sardellen-Sauce. Das kommt davon, wenn man wahllos bestellt
// CHICKEN PARAPEK – eines der leckersten Gerichte mit Hühnchen, Bohnen und Karotten mit einer leichten süßen Chili-Sauce

EN – BaliDiary5. After our first temple visit in the South we drove northwards from Seminyak to Tanah Lot. On our way we passed the loud and noisy Kerobokan and drove through the quieter landscape seeing beautiful rice fields and small villages. When you arrive at the temple you need to go through the little touristic village around Tanah Lot before seeing the actual monument. The view onto it from the top was far better than from the bottom. Unfortunately you’re not allowed to visit and climb onto it. After being blessed with water from the cave and lotus flowers you can step on the first five steps. I’ve to admit that the view from the upper platform was more beautiful. The scenery might look so beautiful in the evening when the sun sets.
On our way home we drove again through the beautiful rice fields and went off from the main street to go to the seaside. Luckily, we found a desert beach with black sand where we relaxed a few hours under the palms and watched the cows grazing.
More of Bali is coming up!

DE – BaliDiary5.

After six super relaxing days on Gili Air we arrived in Kuta on Lombok today. I already miss the blue water, wonderful sunsets and especially the easy and inexpensive lifestyle on the island. The post will be up soon! Apparently the beaches in Kuta like Mawun and Mawi are even more beautiful than on the Gili Islands and I am curious to see if it was true.
But let’s get back to Bali and Seminyak now. Coming to Seminyak I realized that the South was the perfect place to get used to Balinese foo and the traffic, which is so much worse in the bigger cities. And compared to the easy surfer’s life in the South Seminyak for example is so different – one stylish café and boutique next to the other. It would have been food and shopping heaven for me – unless we were travelling for a month and being tight on our budget. But once in a while we are allowed to spoil ourselves. Via Josephine’s wonderful pictures on Instagram of her last trip to Bali I discovered this marvellous bar&restaurant SARDINE in Seminyak. Still thinking about that delicious rasperry mint ice tea and those crispy chips. The setting was perfect for a little outfit shoot. As we drove quite far to the Tanah Lot temple I preferred protecting my arms from sunburning with my long-sleeved lace top and matching white ‚Raffalleo‘-hat. Didn’t think about my legs, though. More of Bali is coming up!

EN – BaliDiary3Balangan Beach was a 20 minutes ride from our stay and is a famous surf spot. I’ve never tried surfing but may try it sometime. We rented some umbrellas and hid in the shadow as we didn’t want to burn ourselves the first days already. After a long day at the beach we had headed down to Bingin Beach for a fish BBQ. So nice to eat with your toes in the sand and feel the sea breeze. Against what everybody said Bali’s nights are quite freezy now in September. As long as it gets hot in during the day I am not complaining.
More of Bali is coming up!

DE – BaliDiary3.

EN – BaliDiary2. There are so many temples in Bali and I am looking forward to the ones in the hinterlands. Our first temple visit was Pura Luhur Uluwatu which lies in the South of Bali with an impressive scenery. From our homestay it was about 20 minutes away. The parking fee costs around 1000 RP, whilst the temple entrance costs 3000 RP.
For the first time in my life I saw some monkeys. At the beginning they were quite sweet but of one those sneaky monkeys stole and scratched my bf's sunglasses. So beware of all kings of glasses and better store them in your bag!
Overall the temple itself is nothing spectacular but the view is overwhelming – cliffs, sea, sunshine. I recommend going there around 5pm to have time to visit and enjoy the beautiful sunset at the end. Also, there is a traditional dance at 6pm everyday.
More of Bali is coming up!

DE – BaliDiary2.
